Let’s build Atlanta’s future together.

My name is Jacob Chambers, and I’m running for Atlanta City Council.

I’m an engineer, a problem-solver, and a leader. I’m ready to take on the problems facing our city.

Homes cost too much. Traffic is paralyzing. Schools are failing our city’s children. For an entire generation, the American dream feels entirely out of reach. While Atlanta is growing, too many of our neighbors’ lives are getting harder, not easier.

Our city is at an extraordinary inflection point, and every day brings new changes to Atlanta. As our skyline evolves, so too does the reality of life for the hundreds of thousands of people who call our city home. I’m running because the challenges our city faces are only growing deeper, our leaders are not addressing them quickly enough, and I care too much about our city to sit on the sidelines.

As your council member, I will introduce and fight for legislation to make it easier to buy or rent a home, get around our city safely and quickly, and create livable, vibrant neighborhoods.

My Story

I have deep roots here in Atlanta. My Mom’s childhood home is a fifteen minute walk from where I live today, and my Dad moved here in the nineties to study at the Woodruff Arts Center. I followed in my Grandfather’s footsteps by attending Georgia Tech, and just like him, I’ve made Midtown home after graduating. I care so deeply about this city, and that’s why I am stepping forward to propose a better path for Atlanta’s future.

I understand the struggles of everyday Atlantans because I live them. I worry about the cost of buying a home – not in theory, but because I’m uncertain I’ll ever be able to afford one. I walk the streets of Atlanta and see how our transportation investments are failing. I wait for MARTA trains and buses that fail to come, I cycle on unsafe streets, and I drive over potholes – sometimes they’re just too big to dodge!

I’m an engineer at heart, not a politician. I believe in solutions, not talk. I believe in unity, not division. Our city needs a voice for the next generation. Our city needs a leader who is ready to tackle our challenges.

My Priorities

Affordable Homes

  • Stabilize the cost of purchasing or renting a home by addressing the root cause of Atlanta’s steep housing shortage.
  • Streamline the approval process for residents and builders, making it faster and easier to build new homes.
  • Fight to remedy historical racial injustice in housing and ensure all Atlantans have access to stable, affordable places to live.

Safe Transportation

  • Fix and maintain the roads we have instead of endless highway expansion.
  • Invest in street safety upgrades to protect drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians and combat the epidemic of deaths and injuries on our streets.
  • Complete the Beltline loop, including the trail and light rail, that Atlantans have been promised, invested in, and voted for.

Livable Neighborhoods

  • Empower residents to open small, neighborhood-scale businesses, enabling and promoting walkable communities.
  • Make Atlanta the best place to raise a family through investments in early childhood education and public safety.
  • Ensure neighborhoods grow without destabilizing change, safeguarding their unique charm while making room for new opportunities.
